Configuring a SRU Resource

• Open the Z39.50/SRU client. Select Modify
  Databases

• Click on the Add Database Link, Select Add SRU
  Server

• You will see a configuration panel that looks
  like the following

• The options are
• Name (This is the Display Name)
• URL (This is the base URL for the SRU query)
• Version (Default is 1.1)
• Metadata Schema (supports MARCXML, MODS and
  Dublin Core).

• To Configure the Library of Congress as an SRU
  server, enter the following
• Name Library of Congress SRU Server
• URL http//z3950.loc.gov7090/voyager
• Version 1.1
• Metadata MarcXML

• Save the settings. You should now see the SRU
  Server in your database list.

• Select Search Mode.

• Select Select Database from the Options.

  added.

• You should now be ready to query using SRU

Querying Via SRU

• SRU client uses the bath profile to provide
  support for like queries between Z39.50 and SRU.
  However, this a place for doing raw queries where
  different profiles can be utilized.

• Options startRecord and maxRecords. Sets the
  number of records to retrieve. There is no hard
  limit but larger sets will take longer to
  retrieve.

• Example, query Oregon. Use a title. (The server
  is busy right now, so Im not getting any results)

Downloading records

• When you get a set of results, you can download
  the records one of two ways.
• You can download individual record. Just double
  click on a title in the results list.
• Download all results. Right click on the results
  list and select, download all records.

Known Issues

• The biggest is the SRU client will look like its
  hung if the server is busy before it times out.
