Dennis Eagle were one of the pioneers in the use
of CNG LNG in RCVs in the 1990s as part of
the Energy Savings Trust scheme Dennis Eagle (
many of our customers) have concerns about spark
ignition technology due to the power

Basic system for CNG or LNG
What is Dual Fuel?

• Uses both Diesel CNG or alternatively LNG with
  vaporiser
• CNG is introduced to the engine above 850rpm
• 50 -65 expected fuel substitution rate for RCVs
• Proven technology in HGV haulage field
  (Hardstaff, in excess of 45m kilometres)

DUAL FUEL TECHNOLOGY
Standard diesel engine is used as a basis for the
Hardstaff OIGI Dual Fuel System Pure diesel is
used at low rpm avoiding combustion
inefficiency, a rich mixture being required for
gas ignition for ideal combustion Air
control valve refines fuel / air mix for
optimised combustion Gas is injected directly
into the inlet flow for each cylinder, diesel is
injected via the normal truck fuelling system to
act as an ignition agent

The OIGI Dual Fuel system monitors the normal
fuelling requirement determines fuel
substitution strategy Gas is substituted for
diesel to a mapped formula, providing power close
to the original bhp rating per rpm and ambient
conditions Gas injection starts at about 850 rpm
for efficient combustion, PTO rpm range is at
about 1000 to 1600 rpm, coincidental for good
substitution rates whilst compacting and using

DUAL FUEL TECHNOLOGY
Hardstaff Group can provide fuel and fuelling
systems to meet the needs of the end-user,
including specification details, supply and
maintenance with equipment built to recognised
standards. Fuel stations are tailored
specifically to meet the requirements of the
customer, coping with a wide range of fill
capacity of between 1 and 200 vehicles.
Station design can range from a basic CNG
(Compressed Natural Gas) Gas Station to the
comprehensive LNG/L-CNG (Liquefied Compressed
Natural Gas Station.

Field trials to-date show an overall fuel
substitution rate of 50-65 for normal urban RCV
collection duties Weight of gas cylinder
installation can be minimised (less than 200 Kgs
for a single cylinder with gas) to suit realistic
operating range, many RCVs travelling less than
80 miles per day
