Why use DIBELS?
  • Inexpensive
  • Quick Screening/Monitoring Tool

  • Allows Teachers to Monitor Progress Towards
    Literacy Goals

School Responsibilities
  • Assess all students in grades K-2 three times per
    year.
  • Provide DIBELS Coordinator with completed testing
    booklets including scoring.
  • Monitor progress of students who might need
    intervention according to the DIBELS screener and
    other relevant data.

School Responsibilities
  • Special Education students for whom reading is a
    goal can be assessed using DIBELS.
  • ESOL students take the English version of DIBELS.
    The Spanish version may be used in addition to
    the English version for more information.
    Newcomers are exempt.
