• Over one thousand cases
• 26 of 34 Networks have contributed cases
• 3 have exceeded the numbers of cases expected ie
  very high levels of contribution
• We will name contributory trusts

• An excellent start
• It can be done!!!
• By an awful lot of hard work by a lot of people
• Assumptions of data fields to information correct
• Analysis algorithms have been created and
  delivered

  about the untapped potential of a high quality
  national clinical database
• Interesting differences and trends
• Between larynx and oral cavity
• Supplementary questions arising

• Missing data
• Only a part sample
• Reliance can place on interpretation
• The reasons why see differences
• Where blanks can alter results significantly
• Lack of validation
• Run before walk!!!

The timetable

• Final data pull happened end November took
  records to September
• All outputs have been analysed but some have had
  to be dropped for lack of completion
• Expert panels have met twice
• To HANCRG in mid February

• Release 31st March 2006
• Local reports will follow for those with
  sufficient cases in June

• The Healthcare commission has approved outline
  funding support for a further 3 years we are
  here to stay!
