• Homosexuality- physical and emotional attraction

• The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist
  Church states that "homosexual practice is
  incompatible with Christian teachings," forbids

  Discipline also calls for civil laws defining
  marriage only as a union between one man and one
  woman.

  suggests a masculinization effect.

Twin Study

• Studies comparing the rates of homosexuality
  among monozygotic (identical) and dizygotic
  (fraternal) twins give us clues to the biological
  factors of homosexuality.
• Bailey and Pillard (1992) found that 52 of
  monozygotic twins of homosexual men were likewise
  homosexual.
• Only 22 of dizygotic twins were likewise
  homosexual.
• 11 of adoptive brothers of homosexual men were
  homosexual.
• Bailey and Pillard conducted the same study in
  1993 using female participants.
• They found that 48 of monozygotic twins of
  homosexual women were likewise homosexual.
• Only 16 of dizygotic twins were likewise
  homosexual.
• 6 of adoptive sisters of homosexual women were
  homosexual.

Twin Studies Continued

• Conclusion? Although the genes for homosexuality
  have not been pinpointed or mapped, twin studies
  give us information that suggests that there is
  some kind of correlation between the occurrence
  of homosexuality and biological genetic makeups.
