We regret to announce the passing of Karen
Kleinschmidt, on Friday, 16 January 2009. Karen
was a Senior Administrator in the IEEE
Educational Activities Department   Karen was
known as an intelligent and purposeful person,
bright and sunny, optimistic, life loving,
energetic, perceptive, and passionate.  As many
of you know, she was very witty and her sense of
humor helped her colleagues many times when
matters seemed hopelessly complex.  Her advice
was invaluable, and she was a source of wise and
experienced counsel. She was frequently praised
by volunteers whom she helped in the arrangement
and administration of meetings, and was known to
be able to perform creatively under severe time
and logistical constraints and in the face of
unexpected contingencies. We express our deepest
sorrow over Karen's untimely death, and send our
heartfelt condolences to her son Brett and to her
parents, siblings and countless friends.
