Safeguarding Procedures

• BG policies
• Child Protection Policy
• Health, Safety and Welfare Policy
• Equality Policy
• All BG members / clubs agree to abide by BG
  polices and procedures when they join as a member
• Anyone attending a BG coaching course must have
  BG membership and BG CRB check

Club Welfare Officers

• From October 2006 all clubs registered with BG
  had to nominate a Welfare Officer in order to
  renew their membership.
• From October 2007 all clubs registered with BG
  must have a trained Welfare Officer to validate
  their BG membership

Training for Club Welfare Officers

• Child Protection Awareness Course BG or other
  recognised course
• Time to Listen Course
• Child Protection Implementation Course
• Regional Program of support

Regional / National Structure

• Currently 2 Regional Welfare Officers
• Aiming to have 4 1 per sub region
• BG Ethics and Welfare Department 4 staff
• Program of support for RWO run Nationally by BG
  Ethics and Welfare Team

GymMark

• All coaches / helpers must have a current BG CRB
  check
• Trained club welfare officer with a signed task
  description
• Club welfare officer must be a member of the
  executive committee of the club

• Club welfare officer contact details must be
  given to all members of the club and displayed on
  notice board
• Published evidence that the club adopts all of
  the BG policies and procedures
• At least 1 person in attendance at every session
  must have attended Child Protection Awareness
  Training

• Increase awareness of safeguarding issues
• Continued support for Welfare Officers
• Increase number of GymMark Clubs
• All clubs / gymnasts / parents have an accessible
  way to report concerns and know how to do so
