Title: EIPEN European Interprofessional Education Network
1- EIPENEuropean Interprofessional Education
Network - in health and social care
Dr Marion Helme, EIPEN Coordinator
2What are the aims for EIPEN and what is EIPEN
going to do?
There are two main aims
- To develop a transnational network in the partner
countries Greece, Finland, Hungary, Poland,
Sweden and the UK. - To promote and share good practice and
innovations in interprofessional education in
health and social care in the classroom and in
clinical practice, practice education and
work-based learning.
3How did the idea for EIPEN develop and who are
the partners in EIPEN?
- 2002 HE Academy Subject Centres (Health Sciences
and Practice Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary
Medicine (Medev) Social Policy and Social Work
(SWAP)) set up collaborative projects in Ethics,
Mental Health and IPE (the Triple Project, based
at HSP in Kings College) - 2003-4 TRIPLE IPE Project interviewed teaching
teams, ran workshops and set up a website with a
questionnaire involving over 200 people
learning from each other about teaching
interprofessionally. - 2004 we were looking for ways of continuing and
expanding 2005 Subject Centres encouraged to
make international links - Colleagues suggested people in universities who
would be interested in setting up a European
network then the universities identified
non-academic organisations to join. - Kings College London are signatories to contracts
4How did the idea for EIPEN develop and who are
the partners in EIPEN?
- The partnership has developed slowly over two
years - In 2005 our application to the Leonardo da Vinci
Programme for transnational network funding was
successful. - Transnational network projects aim to amalgamate
and develop European expertise and innovatory
approaches - We have 2 years funding 1 October 2005 to 30
September 2007 - This funding is small and has to be matched by
50 from partners - But partners are engaged in activities congruent
to the project aims and some have much
experience of European Projects
