EEMC Performance

• Participated in 90 of all production runs
• Fewer problems all kinds
• Radiation problems reduced by shielding
• Fewer memory upsets and forced reconfigurations
• Check each fill and reconfigure once a day still
  good practice
• MAPMT FEE power cycle every few days necessary
• Fewer Water system problems
• Bubbles not an issue
• Chiller does need fan in warm weather

Losses during the year

• Electronics
• Lost 8 bases (out of 1296 channels)
• A few came and went
• 6 MAPMT bases lost late in run (heat, humidity)
• A few additional FEE channels failed

• 2 new channels (plus some old friends)
• No working spare digitizer cards of 3 available
• MAPMT FEE
• 5 additional boxes, few single channels wont be
  fixed
• Need to schedule spares at IU
• Radstone channel failures at end of run

Shutdown Work

• Base replacement and FEE/MAPMT box work scheduled
  in September
• Magnet water hose replacement late July early
  start on FEE work as time allows

Shift Crew Interactions

• Fully turned over to detector operators this year
• Few too many phone calls on non-problems
• Improve documentation
• Improve training
• Will start from greater level of familiarity next

• Considering going to expert on call at IU rather
  than onsite for next year
• Certainly only after commissioning and
  calibration complete

General Observations and Suggestions

• Information transfer on change over days still
  not what it needs to be
• Change over reports need to be taken seriously
• People need to stay full changeover shift (but
  this may have reached achievable level)
• People going off shift should leave phone number
  and are on call at least they pay for info not
  transferred
• Dont change full crew on changeover days
• Shift leaders, one detector operator, crew,
  detector operator trainee on Tuesday
• Period coordinator, other detector operator,
  shift leader trainee
• Encourage multiple successive weeks on shift

• More manpower on site for short turn around
  analysis tasks Phenix too much, STAR too
  little?
• Trigger tests
• Background questions
• Run progress
• Need additional space for onsite (at WAH?)
  experts
• Is existing counting house used optimally?
• Only free internet connections in conference room
