  • 1. Plan
  • 2. Do
  • 3. Check
  • 4. Action

3
Presentation Skills - Plan
  • In Islam, everything we do needs to have a
Intention or we call it the AIM of the
    presentation.
  • What do you want to accomplish ? Write these down
first before you even start. Lets try.

4
Presentation Skills - Do
  • Now that you understand your AIM, lets get down
to the real work to accomplish those goals .
Yes, lets DO it Just Do IT but you will ask,
    how to do it ?
  • Help is on its way

5
Presentation Skills - Do
  • When someone does a presentation, what are you
looking for ? Pretend that you are the audience
and try to recall what you think will be a good
    presentation.
  • Think and lets discuss what these are

6
Presentation Skills - Do
  • These are the areas you might be looking for
  • 1. Eyes
  • 2. Ears
  • 3. Heart
  • 4. Touch
  • 5. Group participation Feedback session

7
Presentation Skills Do (Eyes)
  • Dress Appropriately imagine when someone wears
slippers or a bright pink shirt !!
  • Hide your Nervousness. How .. Hold the podium.
  • Keep eye contact with the audience.
  • Communicate with your eyes.
  • Use suitable tools like whiteboard, computer, flip
chart. It will be good to have a variety of tools
    to break the monotony.

8
Presentation Skills Do (Ears)
  • Need to vary your voice lets practice.
  • Make sure the furthest person from you can hear
you. Check if they can hear by asking them. If
they cannot hear you, you have lost them and this
can have a chain reaction example if they stand
    up and leave the room.
  • Use humor or stories to break the ice.
  • Use different tones to express your emotions
example loud when angry and soft when afraid.

9
Presentation Skills Do (Heart)
  • People are like children. They love stories to be
told to them. Practice with your children at
    home.
  • Relate your own experience or from someone close
to you. This gives credibility to the speaker
example tell them how you were lazy too and did
not pray till a much later age but AlHamdulilah,
things are different now because of the
realization that has taken place. Tell them you
understand the challenges to pray amongst the
    youth nowadays.

10
Presentation Skills Do (Touch)
  • It will be good to provide objects for people to
touch, feel and keep something for themselves
example handouts, samples depending on what you
    are trying to do.
  • Demonstrate through example or role play if
    possible.

11
Presentation Skills Do (Group Participation -
Feedback)
  • Always ask for feedback so that you can clarify
    the doubts or mis-understandings immediately.
  • Always praise people for asking questions
regardless of what type of question it is. This
will make people feel good about you and probably
    will get the dialogue going.
  • Never insult anybody or become defensive. Always
look at questions positively even when they
accuse you of not doing something for them. You
should say that it is a good feedback and that
    you will look into it.

12
Presentation Skills - Check
  • Throughout the presentation, you need to check
around. Check if the audience are feeling too
hot, too tired etc. Turn down the air conditioner
or give them a break if they need one.
  • Always keep eye contact with them because this is
one good way to get feedback from the audience
and this builds a bond between both of you
    despite the large audience.
  • Always remedy the issue immediately. If someone
says he does not have a handout, ask him to share
with his neighbor till you can get another copy
    made for him.

13
Presentation Skills - Action
  • Always keep a notepad to take down the questions
so that you can follow up on the issues.
  • This can also be used to wrap up the presentation
by summarizing the points taken down during the
    feedback session. This shows sincerity.

14
Presentation Skills - Exercise
  • Make a presentation on introducing yourself to
    the Team. Objectives are
  • 1. Introduce yourself.
  • 2. Begin speaking before a group.
  • 3. Should have a clear beginning, body and
    ending.
