Multimodal Transportation District
  • A multimodal transportation district is a
designation of an area on the Future Land Use Map
for which the Comprehensive Policy Plan assigns
secondary priority to automobile mobility and
primary priority to assuring a safe, comfortable,
    and attractive pedestrian environment, with
    convenient interconnection to transit.

Environmental Land Stewardship Program
  • In June 2006, the adopted Innovation Way Policy
8.2.3 outlined the environmental principles that
were to be followed in developing Innovation Way
  • Preserve and manage existing environmentally
sensitive areas in way that will maintain the
    integrity for wildlife habitat.
  • To the maximum extent possible, the natural
terrain, drainage and vegetation of the area
    shall be preserved.
  • Road crossings shall be minimized over wetlands
and flood plains and such crossings shall be
designed to allow for unimpeded passage of
    wildlife.

43
Environmental Land Stewardship Program
  • Environmental principles (Contd)
  • Protection of the Econ River ecosystem with
conservation easements or similar mechanisms and
continued acquisition of land abutting the
Riparian Habitat Protection Zone (RHPZ) should be
    a priority.
  • Forested habitat fragmentation shall be limited.
  • Within the Econ Protection Zone, recreation and
nature trails shall be unsurfaced and vehicle
access shall be limited to river crossings and
    approved access points.
  • Addresses crossings of the protection zone.
There shall be no additional crossing by road,
rail or utility corridors of the protection zone
unless three (3) conditions are met.

44
