located next to the University of Leeds campus
5Who can register with us? Students (or married
partner or child of a student) who live in
University Accommodation in Leeds OR Private
accommodation in postal areas LS1 to LS7 or LS16
South of the Ring Road If you are in the UK for
more than 6 months you can register as a full NHS
patient, which means that you do not pay for
consultations with our doctors or nurses

week (term-time), with an emergency nurse

13University of Leeds Sickbay Sickbay is a three
bed day unit staffed during surgery hours
term-time by nursing personnel
We provide short term doctor and nursing care for
those students who require close observation or
who are awaiting hospital admission

20Links with the University We provide specialist
support to many University Departments, this
includes the Medical Dental Schools, Science
Departments, and Language Departments We support
the study-abroad programmes by providing
comprehensive medical and vaccination
requirements, and up-to-date travel health
medicine We advise on policies, i.e. drugs and
alcohol
21Confidentiality All personnel at Leeds Student
Medical Practice adhere strictly to a written
code of conduct for confidentiality Written
consent is obtained from students in all
circumstances before we enter into communication
with their departments, parents, or third parties
22Dental Care We dont provide any dental
facilities, but we do provide a list of dental
surgeries in the locality who are taking NHS
patients. This information is available on our

this area Optical Care There is an opticians
practice based on the campus (Vision Opticians on
the ground floor in the Student Union building)
23Meningitis C A National immunisation programme
means most students arrive at University
immunised against Meningitis C, and although we
have seen a reduction in cases of Meningitis over
the last few years, we strongly recommend all new
students receive vaccination against Meningitis
C, prior or on arrival in Leeds You can come to
the practice and receive this injection free of
charge
24Mumps We have seen an increase in outbreaks of
Mumps on Campus in the last few years Mumps is a
childhood illness which can be prevented by
vaccination with a combined Measles/Mumps/Rubella
injection It is a two dose vaccine, given one
month apart, you can come to the practice and
receive this injection free of charge
