National Food Policy
Since independence, Bangladesh has made
considerable efforts to achieve food security, in
particular through impressive increases in
foodgrain availability
BUT
  • high prevalence of undernourishment (30)
  • problem of access to food fundamental (50 below
    poverty line)
  • large incidence of malnutrition (inadequate
    utilization/diets)
  • acute problems for vulnerable groups, e.g.,
    women and children
