    suppressant

absorbed through the blood vessels in the nasal
    cavities.

7
LSD
  • Lysergic Acid Diethylamide
  • Disrupts the neurotransmitter serotonin
  • Hallucinogen
  • Profound distortions of reality
  • Made using lysergic acid which comes from a
fungus called ergot, that grows on grains
  • Effects are unpredictable and depend on the
amount taken, the persons personality, mood,
expectations, and the environment in which the
    drug is used.

of experiences during a bad trip (usually in
people with underlying issues but can happens to
    healthy people)
  • May lead to psychosis, schizophrenia, or severe
    depression

8
PCP
  • Phencyclidine, Angel Dust
  • Dissociative drug
  • It distorts perception of sight and sound and
  • and leaves a person feeling detached from
    themselves and the environment
  • Disrupts the neurotransmitter glutamate which
controls the feeling of pain, our ability to
respond to the environment and, our memory
  • Its a white powder that is dissolved in water or
    alcohol
  • It is either smoked snorted or ingested.
  • Highly addictive
  • At high doses of PCP, blood pressure, pulse
rate, and respiration drop. This may be
accompanied by nausea, vomiting, blurred vision,
flicking up and down of the eyes, drooling, loss
of balance, and dizziness. High doses of PCP can
also cause seizures, coma, and death (though
death more often results from accidental injury
or suicide during PCP intoxication). High doses
can cause symptoms that mimic schizophrenia, such
    as delusions, hallucinations, paranoia,
disordered thinking, a sensation of distance from
one's environment, and catatonia. Speech is often

Ecstasy
  • MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine)

    hallucinogen
  • Other substances are often added by the makers of
    the drug.
  • May cause the user to become hyper. The person
may experience time distortion and distortion of
the senses (like an increased sense of touch).
  • May also cause muscle tension, grinding of the
    teeth, nausea, chills, sweating, fainting,
increased heart rate and increased blood
pressure. In high doses it may cause
hyperthermia. May also cause brain damage

10
Marijuana
  • Marijuana
  • Mix of dried and shredded leaves, seeds, and
stems from the Hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa)

    some of which cause cancer
  • It is either ingested or smoked

11
Marijuana Cont.
  • Effects of marijuana
  • Loss of coordination
  • Memory loss
  • Anxiety, Panic Attack, and Paranoia
  • May lead to addiction

makes a person feel high. The person may feel an
urge to use the drug again to get the same
    experience.
  • Disrupts functions of the hippocampus
  • Affects learning and memory
  • Teenagers brains are still developing effects may
    be permanent
