you to give your bodies to God because of all he

behavior and customs of this world, but let God
transform you into a new person by changing the

will for you, which is good and pleasing and

if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But
those who marry will face many troubles in this

1Now for the matters you wrote about It is good
for a man not to marry. 2But since there is so
much immorality, each man should have his own
wife, and each woman her own husband. 3The
husband should fulfill his marital duty to his
wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The
wife's body does not belong to her alone but also
to her husband. In the same way, the husband's
body does not belong to him alone but also to his
wife. 5Do not deprive each other except by mutual
consent and for a time, so that you may devote
yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so
that Satan will not tempt you because of your
lack of self-control. 6I say this as a
concession, not as a command. 7I wish that all
men were as I am. But each man has his own gift
from God one has this gift, another has that.
8Now to the unmarried and the widows I say It is
good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. 9But if
they cannot control themselves, they should
marry, for it is better to marry than to burn

18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a
man commits are outside his body, but he who sins
sexually sins against his own body. 19Do you not
know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received
from God? You are not your own 20you were bought

3 Gods will is for you to be holy, so stay away
from all sexual sin. 4 Then each of you will
control his own body and live in holiness and
honor5 not in lustful passion like the pagans
who do not know God and his ways. 6 Never harm or
cheat a Christian brother in this matter by
violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such
sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. 7
God has called us to live holy lives, not impure
lives. 8 Therefore, anyone who refuses to live
this way is not disobeying human teaching but is
rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

Salvation in Christ is being adopted (baptism),
made members of a people, Israel, and the church.
We really believe that if we were not part of
this people we could not be saved. So when the
church has opinions about how you spend your
money, how you have sex, how you vote, this is
salvation. You are not simply being saved from
personal greed or licentiousness, you are thereby
being made a member of Gods people.
