OSPF Multi-Instance Draft

• Good News - Backward Compatibility concerns are
  less severe than previously believed.
• Mechanisms to avoid OSPF multicast packet
  reception for non-zero instances have been
  removed. Will be dropped due to authentication
  type mismatch.
• Simple mechanism - will ask for more discussion
  and WG acceptance between now and Dublin.

• Routing Robustness/Scalability Preservation
  Requirement is long standing - sponsored by ADs
• Burgeoning Bounty of Information other WGs want
  to advertise in OSPF (some of it useful)
• No update since last IETF
• Authors feel parent-child instance relationship
  complicates specification
• Will make it For Future Study
• This simplification should allow it to move
  forward with multi-instance
