At school everyone wears a mask to cover up who
they really are. The real reason why we wear a
mask is because we want to be noticed by a crowd
or by the popular kids. What we start doing is
buying new clothes to noticed, the make-up we put
on so that people will take a second look, and
the behavior changes come with it. Well, I think
that its wrong to try to do that just to be
notice. People should like you for who you are
inside not by what you wear. I have a couple of
reasons why we should all take off our masks and
just be who we really are.

First of all you shouldnt care about what other
people think or you you should be confident and
happy with whom you are. Shakespeare said, The
world is all a stage. Well, I think we should
all make the world a stage not of actors, but the
person you are inside. You were made for your own
special reason that no one else may have. It says
in the Bible that God knew before you were even
born, and he has a plan for each and everyone of
us. We are all genuine there is only one of us.
Since there is only one of you and me that makes
us all special. Just think about it, each and
everyone of us has his or her own destiny, you
may not know your destiny today, next week, or
even next year however, there is a purpose and a
reason for every thing good and bad.

I wrote a poem last year that I would like to
share with everyone It is very personal, but I
will no linger wear my mask.

My Inside self My Outside self My inside
self-my outside self are as different as can
be. My outside self wears okay clothes and very
short is she. I hide inside who I really am,
afraid of being disliked, Afraid of
embarrassment, afraid of what youll think of
me. The thought of that is what keeps me silent.
My inside self is different as you may come
to see. A young girl as sweet as can be dances
inside of me. In her eyes you will see the
adventure that lives inside You can see by her
hair the wild I keep hidden By her voice you can
hear the music that rings inside my ears In her
heart you will see she could car less of what you
think, The only thing that matters is loving
God with all her heart.

My second reason why I think that you should
throw in your mask is because you spend all that
money buying things to try to impress somebody
when half the time they dont even notice! Its
like girls when you start bashing your eyes so
that people will notice you are wearing make-up
and this guy or girl that your talking to says
Whats up with your eye, did you get dirt in it
or something? It sounds humiliating doesnt it?
Plus buying all those clothes, shoes and make-up
(which most of it we dont even need) thats a
lot of money you just spent. Rather than trying
to look like everyone else, stand out and be
yourself. For the longest time I wanted to be
popular I wanted to be noticed for a change. I
bought new shoes, new clothes wearing my mask
everything. Then I realized, I shouldnt be
someone that Im not, and instead I should hang
out with the people that do notice me and like me
for me. When I took off my mask and started to be
myself again, the people that I wanted to be
noticed by noticed me for me without my mask.

Look at that talents you already have instead of
what you dont. Well, maybe I cant play soccer
like Rylee, but Im really good at math I cant
act like Allison, but I love to sing which is
true. Look at teachers one of their talents is
working with kids. Artist their talent is art and
who knows maybe other stuff as well. Perhaps they
found what they were good at, at eight or even
forty-eight we dont now, but they stuck with
their talent, and it opened up doors for them.
All of us in this room have a talent. God gave
you those talents to use not to be hidden, so you
should show them to the world.

I can probably guess what you are thinking right
now oh well I dont have a talent or Im too
scared to take that risk of being humiliated.
Well, if you always think that way then youll
never know what may happen. Instead of thinking
of all the negatives think of all the positives.
What if that question, risk, or even just a
comment might lead to something great. Son no
longer should you be afraid to throw in your mask
and just be yourself. Im not saying go out and
be crazy, but what I am saying is just dont be
afraid to take that risk, and ask that question
because it could lead and open a door to
something amazing. I will no longer wear my
maskthe question is will you?
