What is CATCH?
  • The Centre for the Assessment of Technical
    Competence Humber
  • Office accommodation, some tenants c/w conference
    and meeting rooms
  • A full scale chemical process unit
  • 2000 m2
  • 3 stories, plus column
  • No chemical hazards
  • Engineering workshop with 5 tonne overhead crane
    (1000m2x10m high)
  • Process simulator

What does CATCH do?
  • Our Mission is
  • To make a real contribution to the
    competitiveness of Chemical and Allied businesses
    by encouraging people to choose careers in the
    industry and by facilitating the provision of
    effective, industry-led training and competence
    assessment within an authentic plant
    environment.

How was it built?
  • Partnership Steering Group

The site is owned by a local council (NELC) and
operated by a private, not-for-profit company
(HCCTA) a subsidiary of a specialist trade
organisation (HCF)

How was it funded?
  • 8m approx. invested

Training Provision
  • We provide the realistic environment i.e.) a
    physical plant environment with processing
    equipment and operating procedures
  • Existing Training Providers deliver the
    programmes with our support to get the best from
    our site, plant and equipment
  • We work with Industry and Providers to develop
    customised solutions

Training Provision (2)
  • DIY Hire area and use own in-house trainer or
    buy in own preferred training provider
  • You do most of the work
  • eg Bundle-pulling
  • eg Instrument conversion course
  • Ask CATCH to find a suitable trainer to meet your
    defined objectives
  • eg Pre-turnaround Joint Integrity Competence
    Assurance
  • Ask CATCH to put together a bespoke programme to
    meet your needs
  • Well do the work provide you with a solution
  • eg Basic operator training for new recruits
