Who are NOMADS?
  • Volunteers (mostly retired)
  • Mostly United Methodist (dont have to be)
  • Have RVs and travel to work projects
  • Work thru a host UM Church/organization
  • Host organization furnishes RV hookups
  • Usually water and electric, sometimes sewer

What do NOMADS do?
  • Travel to projects at own expense
  • Provide own RV for self sufficient living
  • Furnish most of their own tools
  • Provide labor for three-week projects
  • Begin work days with group devotions
  • Meet the needs of the hosting agency

  • Repair, remodel, and painting
  • New construction
  • Landscaping, maintenance
  • Repair homes for elderly, poor, etc.

  • Started 1988
  • NCJ-UMVIM / Hawley Dottie Fabrick
  • 1988-89 fall/winter 5 projects - 24 NOMADS
  • 1999 grown to over 1000 members 100 projects
  • 1999-2000 went national with UMC GBGM
  • 2000 hired full time Director
  • 2005 - 1112 members, 168 projects completed
  • And growing!
