- Purpose Service to students in planning for
Intern I - TCED 4738
2Qualifications
- Formal admission to Teacher Education
- Verification of written and spoken proficiency in
English. Successful completion of speech and
composition courses will generally satisfy
requirement. - Admission to Pre-Service Internship I is
contingent upon eligibility for entering into
Intern II the following consecutive semester.
NOTE (B- or better in Intern I). Successful
completion of Math 3032 or Math 3037 (C- or
better). -
3QUALIFICATIONS (cont)
- GPA of 2.500 or better in sub-plans courses and
3.000 or better in Professional
Development/Pedagogy courses. - NOTE Courses offered at 400 p.m. on Wednesdays
may not be taken during Internship - NOTE No methods or field experience courses
offered in summer - Students entered UHCL in Fall 2006 Students are
not allowed to take more than two courses which
include field experience concurrent with
Internship I. - Ideally only Internship II remaining, however,
may have 6 hours of coursework remainingClass
times must begin after 500 PM.
4- Submission of application materials to CPDT
(Bayou 1231-4) by October 1 600 PM for Spring
admission. - NOTE Delivered in Person to CPDT Office
- Postmarked by September 26

5Qualifications for Intern II
- MINIMUM 3.000 GPA in Professional Development
(PD)/Pedagogy courses which are - ELEMENTARY
- TCED 4231, 4232, and 4233 (Methods)
- EDUC 4231 (Professional Seminar)
- TCED 4738 Pre-service Internship I (Must be B- or
better - SECONDARY
- TCED 4634, 4631, 4632 OR 4633 (Methods)
- EDUC 4132 (Professional Seminar)
- TCED 4738 Pre-service Internship I (Must be B- or
better) - Satisfactory completion of all Professional
Development/Pedagogy course, LLLS 4434 and all
field experience courses - NOTE No Methods or Field Experience courses in
Summer - NOTE Minimum 2.500 GPA in sub-plan course
including transfer courses - TCED 4010/4012 TExES
- The State Assessment Coordinator is required by
the state and UHCL to verify - the qualification of TExES test applicants. You
must meet qualifications to apply for TExES. - Study guides can be obtained by printing copies

candidates taking more than 19 hours in a long
semester (15 hours for graduates) and 12 hours in
the summer (9 hours for graduates) must petition
the Associate Dean for approval. Petitions for
coursework overload must be submitted to Dr.
James Sherrills office located in Suite 1231.
