A1 Renewal Requirements
  • In each five year cycle, certified employees are
    required by State Board of Education policy to
    complete 150 hours of professional development.
    Each 10 hours of professional development equates
    to 1.0 units of renewal credit (CEUs). Certified
    employees receive 1.0 CEU for each year of
    employment.

A2-Reading Credit (REA)
  • Must address or focus on teachers learning
    strategies to support
  • Phonemic awareness
  • Phonics
  • Vocabulary Development
  • Fluency
  • Text Comprehension

A2-Writing (LAR)
  • Writing in-service cannot be counted toward
    reading credit.
  • You must use LAR prefix.

A3 - Subject Specific Credits
  • K-12 teachers must complete 30 hours (3 CEUs) in
    the academic subject areas they currently teach,
    including strategies to teach those subjects,
    during each five-year renewal cycle.

  • School administrators must complete 50 hours (5.0
    CEUs) of training in teacher effectiveness,
    teacher retention, teacher evaluation, teacher
    support programs, teacher leadership and teacher
    empowerment within each license renewal cycle.

  • Must submit 30 days in advance. NO retroactive
    classes, please.
  • Should be based on staff needs assessments.
  • Support School Improvement Plans and district
    initiatives

B3 - Design Tips to Meet Renewal Requirements
  • At least 10 contact hours in a series of
    meetings.
  • Reading courses must bear REA prefix.
  • Subject courses must have subject prefixes.
  • TEC is required for lateral entry teachers.

  • Document Independent Work / Homework in Internal
    Comments if you want to award extra credit.
  • Accounting Set extra meeting dates to account
    for the homework hours.
  • Check the Is Homework check box.

  • 48 semester hours or earn an Associates Degree
    or higher
  • Pass WorkKeys assessment AND 96 in-service hours
    with a completion date of 1998 or later.

  • Two IA Institutes offered in 2009-10.

  • Use the sign-in sheets generated from MyPD
    (RosterPDF) for participants to sign in

    remind them accordingly

C2 - Date Changes
  • Do not call us to change dates in the Catalog
  • Notify staff of the changes via your school
    communication channel
  • Update the dates on your sign-in sheets to
    reflect the changes for your own record
  • Check attendance in the column of the old dates

C3 Shortcut in Issuing Credit
  • Attendance must be taken first for this to work.
  • On the Issue Credit screen (with everyone
    In-progress), you can select Credit Status
    AllPartial.
  • The system will then calculate the credit based
    on the attendance, and turn them into ATTENDED,
    ABSENT, or PARTIAL.

C4 - Deadline for Issuing Credit
  • 15 business days after the last class meeting
  • I will contact you to close your classes if not
    done
  • Close classes Take Attendance and Issue Credit

D1 - Registration and Cancellation
  • Every CMS employee MUST register in MyPD by the
    end of workshops in order to get CEU credit for
    CMS workshops.
  • Participants must cancel their registration by
    midnight of the first meeting.
  • They will be marked Absent if they do not
    attend / cancel classes.

    search.

D3 - Schedule Conflicts
  • Error messages shows that you have a schedule
    conflict when you register for classes for the
    same date and time.
  • It DOES NOT prevent you from registering for both
    classes.
  • Cancel one of the classes as appropriate/needed.

D4 - VIF (980 SS)
  • Obtain their real social security numbers.
  • Update their new SS with their Benefits
    representatives.
  • Set up their email account in IntranetLogin
    Help.
  • Their names automatically get loaded into MyPD.
  • They cannot register for any classes until they
    complete the above steps.

D5 - Did I Get My Credit Yet?
  • Take Post-Class Evaluations first!!!
  • REGISTERED with 0 credit
  • Class is still in session
  • Credit is not issued yet--Contact the course
    facilitator/contact person and ask them to issue
    credit

D6 - Did I Get My Credit Yet?
  • PASSED/ABSENT, but wrong credit
  • Contact the course facilitator/contact person.
    Ask them to verify AND correct attendance in
    MyPD.
  • Facilitators send an email to Christina or Kate
    to put participant back In-Progress.

D7 - Did I Get My Credit Yet?
  • PASSED, with Pending Evaluation
  • You must first complete the evaluation by
    clicking the Take Post-Class Evaluation link
    listed on your Class Portfolio/Welcome Screen.
