    curriculum is mapped out for the year along with
    tests and meaningful hands-on activities

  • Teachers develop a camaraderie and can offer
    advice and support via e-mail or phone throughout
    the year.
  • Teachers know what is being taught and when it is
    taught at all participating schools so transfer
    students can pick up where they left off at the
    previous school.
  • Teachers are excited about sharing ideas,
    lessons, and self-created assignments with each
    other.

    Pre-AP)
  • 7th Grade Double Block All Students (except
    Pre-AP)
  • 8th Grade 45 min. classes Double Block for
    TAKS failures only

  • Double period class
  • Grade appropriate instruction
  • Same pace as single period math
  • Teacher to student ratio - 110
  • Basic skills TAKS remediation on-going
    throughout the year
  • Test taking strategies, organization skills,
    study habits taught though-out the year
  • Parent involvement is essential

  • Advantages Double time for instruction
    remediation student to teacher ratio is low for
    extra assistance
  • Disadvantages Behavior issues peer support and
    tutoring is not an option

  • Homework assigned every night
  • Homework must be meaningful
  • No zeros mandatory tutorials assigned for
    incomplete work
  • Corrections made on every test and quiz using
    proper correction form

Tracking Students Progress
  • Record Sheets w/ homework kept in classroom for
    semester
  • CUA test given each six weeks
  • Benchmark given in February
  • CUA and 6-weeks grades kept on student tracking
    log
  • Students sign in for tutoring
  • AMI and Title I tutoring mandatory
    staring in January
