NDI

• Currently 41 inspectors fleet wide.
• 2 more classes planned this year and by the
  transfer season there will be 61 inspectors fleet
  wide.
• Every Air station should have at least one
  inspector.
• Next FSY I will add the G1 personnel in
  Washington DC.
• New eddy current instruments should be in the
  fleet by now.
• Air log message 015-04 on procuring instruments.

Clearwater NDI

• Training trip to Clearwater, FL Air Station.
• Taught local inspectors process controls of their
  magnetic particle machine.
• Will upgraded certification to include that
  particular mag machine.
• Class included C130 and H60 personnel at
  Clearwater.

Mobile NDI

• Tentative plans to visit Mobile.
• HU25 aircraft has heat damage.
• This trip will be a combo trip
• Engineering investigation on A/C 2113 heat
  damage.
• Train and enhance local inspectors to perform
  conductivity measurements using the Stavely
  instrument and special probes that use the probe
  recognition software.

Future Training

• NDI seminar that I wanted had logistic problems.
• Too much for a one week CPA conference.
• Other plans are being discussed with the AAB and
  David Moore
• Travel to train. Perform practical and provide a
  MOP.
• Seminar at either E-city or Albuquerque, NM.

Re-certification

• On line exams will be August this year.
• 30 day window
• General, and the specific for each method will be
  on line.
• Must pass with a composite score of 80.
• Practical Still working on details for that.
• Exam are being developed
• NDI Web site will have information concerning the
  specific exams and what type of information will
  be included.
• Personnel successful will be re-certified for one
  year.

• Fluorescent Penetrant
• Excellent in locating surface pitting and cracks.

Magnetic Particle Inspections

• Detect
• Stress corrosion cracking
• Cracks that are under continued stress and
  corrosion is present.

Eddy Current

• NORTEC 2000D capabilities
• Surface eddy current inspection can detect
  corrosion pitting if volume and geometry is of
  adequate size.
• Always perform a confirmatory evaluation of these
  indications.
• Perform multi-layered wall thickness evaluations.

• Can be performed with nonconductive coatings
  between the layers.
