Title: STEPS

1
  • STEPS
  • Study on TEchnologys impact in Primary Schools
  • EUN Steering Committee February 2008

2
Our ICT Impact Report had an impact
3
Key findings highlight primary school ICT success
  • ICT impacts on educational performance in
    primary schools, particular in English
  • ICT improves attainment levels of children 7-16
in the first language, in science and in design
and technology, particularly in primary schools
  • ICT allows for greater differentiation
(especially in primary schools), with programmes
    tailored to individual pupils needs
  • Primary teachers consider ICT to have more impact
    than secondary teachers

4
Issues highlighted
  • Many of the findings relate to the UK. They are
mostly in English. There are gaps in what is
    known about other countries.
  • To what extent are results transferable or are
    they contextually dependent?
  • In what sense can we relate outcomes to national
    ICT policies?

5
Recommendations
  • Encourage more qualitative trans-national
    research into ICT impact

6
And so we have STEPS
  • 18 months to June 2009
  • Service contract with the Executive Agency
