  selling DIRECWAY. It should take about five
  minutes and will answer most of the questions
  you have about the DIRECWAY service, what it can
  be used for, and how to target the right customer.

  line.
• DIRECWAY uses a two-way satellite connection to
  send and receive messages from the Internet
• Dial-up services require you to dial-in, log-on,
  and wait for a connection.
• DIRECWAY service is always-on for instant access
  to the Internet
• With dial-up service, the best connection you can
  hope for is 56 kbps.
• DIRECWAY enables you to surf at speeds of up to
  2Mbps

• Every day, the Internet becomes more and more
  about music downloads, pictures, software
  downloads, and other high-bandwidth applications.
  At 56kbps, dial-up networks just werent built
  to handle this kind of use.
• DIRECWAY was built to provide service for these
  uses
• A file that used to take 5 minutes to download
  could now take as little as 30 seconds.
• When you hear your customer say
• I wish I could get high-speed service at home.
• I run a small business from my house and
  communication with our customers is important.
• Cable and DSL arent available where I live.

• Would like faster service for Web surfing,
  downloads, e-mail, and instant messaging.
• Plan to use the service at a fixed location and
  not from a boat or RV
• Have a clear line of sight to the southern sky
• DIRECWAY is currently NOT right for
• Users that frequently upload large files
• Web hosting, VPN, and Voice and Video over IP
• Real-time interactive gaming (twitch games)
• Mobile installations (example RVs or boats)

Who is DIRECWAY right for?
The following list is TROUBLE

• Want to use DIRECWAY for real-time, interactive
  gaming
• DIRECWAY is great for many types of online games,
  but not those that require instantaneous reaction
  times. These types of games are also referred to
  as twitch games because they require
  twitch-like responses.
• DIRECWAY sends a signal over 20,000 miles up to a
  satellite and then it travels back to earth the
  same distance. Even at the speed of light, this
  delay, called latency, is less than a second.
  However, that fraction of a second could mean the
  difference between winning and losing in many
  online games.
• Want to use DIRECWAY for web hosting
• DIRECWAY was not designed for such bandwidth
  intensive applications such as hosting. This
  type of use is discouraged by DIRECWAY.
• Want to use DIRECWAY for VPN access
• Virtual Private Networking (VPN) is a way to
  access private or secure information from a
  remote location. Typically, this is required by
  people that work from home and access files at
  the companys headquarters.
• VPN software puts a protective wrapper around
  the sensitive files being transmitted.
  Third-party VPN software is not designed for
  satellite and the additional overhead associated
  with the files being transmitted results in a
  much slower connection.
• Want to use DIRECWAY for video or voice of IP
• The latency associated with satellite (see above)
  makes the use of these applications less than
  ideal.

• Commercial installations are far more complicated
  and require more time and materials than standard
  residential installations. Commercial service
  plans are more powerful and are designed for
  business use.

Residential Service Plans
(1) Download Threshold is the volume of data that
can be downloaded continuously before the Fair
Access Policy may restrict the download speed.
Several variables affect this number including
speed of download, duration of download, and the
plans Recovery Rate. (2)Recovery Rate is the
speed at which a service plan recovers the
Download Threshold. (3)After 15 months, the cost
of the service reverts to the then-current
monthly service charge.
