Wojtek
Wojtek is a post-16 learner taking the Advanced
Diploma in business, administration and finance.
He has lived in England for five years and after
having achieved good GCSE grades would like to
eventually work in the business sector. Outside
school Wojtek helps out at the local Polish
Association and has recently been voted in as the
youngest committee member. He is helping them to
project the cost of an exchange visit with a club
back in Poland so his undoubted ability with
numbers is really helping out. He hopes to be
part of the exchange project so he can learn a
bit more about his homeland and the culture he
left behind.

level in politics as he found the subject
interesting and just wanted to know a bit more

Extended Project
Wojtek spent his work experience with a local
accountancy firm. He was immediately struck by
how busy everyone was and found his first few
days a bit of a whirl! After settling in, he was
asked to assist a junior accountant who was
preparing the end of year tax returns for a range
of her clients. Wojtek found the work very
interesting and gave him an excellent insight
into many aspects of tax law in practice. Having
done well he was given the
Wojteks project was a real help to the Polish
Association as he looked at the feasibility of
setting up their Dance Group as a business
generating income by running displays at weddings
and other local events. He investigated similar
groups then produced a business plan and some
sample marketing material. He followed this up
with a presentation to the committee to outline
his ideas. The Committee thought the feasibility
of establishing the group as a business was good
at the present time and thanked Wojtek for the
thoroughness of his work. He found the experience
extremely useful and a great way of applying some
of his new found knowledge.
