Challenge Who is wise and understanding among
you?

• If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who
  gives generously to all without reproach, and it
  will be given him, (James 15).
• Proverbs 17 The fear of the LORD is the
  beginning of knowledge fools despise wisdom and
  instruction.
• Proverbs 21-7
• Proverbs 910 The fear of the LORD is the
  beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the
  Holy One is insight.

Challenge Who is wise and understanding among
you? (v.13)

• See, I have taught you statues and rules, as the
  LORD my God commanded me, that you should do them
  in the land that you are entering to take
  possession of it. Keep them and do them, for
  that will be your wisdom and your understanding
  in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear
  all these statues, will say, Surely this great
  nation is a wise and understanding people,
  (Deuteronomy 45-6).
• Proverbs 35-6, Trust in the Lord with all your
  heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will
  make straight your paths.
• Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I
  am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find
  rest for your souls, (Matthew 1129).

False wisdom worldly wisdom (v.14-16).

• Proverbs 423-27 Keep your heart with all
  vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
  Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious
  talk far from you. Let your eyes look directly
  forward, and your gaze be straight before you.
  Ponder the path of your feet then all your ways
  will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to
  the left turn your foot away from evil.

False wisdom worldly wisdom (v.14-16).

• Jealousy strong feeling
• John 217 meant in a positive sense when Jesus
  cleansed the temple Zeal for your house will
  consume me.
• Romans 102 zeal for God also positive.
• Acts 517-18 seen negatively But the high
  priest rose up, and all who were with him (that
  is, the party of Sadducees), and filled with
  jealousy they arrested the apostles and put them
  in the public prison.
• The Apostle Paul as to zeal, a persecutor of
  the church, (Philippians 36).

False wisdom worldly wisdom (v.14-16).

• For many, of whom I have often told you and now
  tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the
  cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their
  god is their belly, and they glory in their
  shame, with minds set on earthly things,
  (Philippians 318-19).
• For God is not a God of confusion (same GK word
  as disorder) but of peace, (1 Corinthians 1433)

True wisdom heavenly wisdom (v.17-18)

• Proverbs 317 Her (wisdom personified) ways
  are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are
  peace.
• Matthew 1119 The Son of Man came eating and
  drinking, and they say, Look at him! A glutton
  and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and
  sinners! Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.
• Matthew 59 Blessed are the peacemakers, for
  they shall be called sons of God.
