Windows XP

• Original Version
• If original CDs were provided use these with
  activation key (Keep safe and labelled)
• Windows Update (if you have bandwidth)
• Language, Region and Key board

• Master with Admin rights (suggest same for all
  PCs in the location)
• Students limited user
• Cannot install programs helps with Viruses and
  Spy Ware
• No password required

Others Windows

• Issues with IE not sure if IE6 can be supported
  or Mozilla Firefox so not ideal for surfing
• Can be used for Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc

Viruses

• Only one Anti Virus can be installed per machine
• Recommend AVG
• Uninstall all other Anti Virus S/W then install
  AVG
• Update form folder before Internet (saves
  bandwidth)
• Can be done manually
• Run first scan and remove issues
• If bandwidth update regularly
• Set Automatic scan off (see later)

Spy ware

• Malicious bits of software from surfing, taking
  rogue links, MSN and Yahoo and inappropriate web
  sites
• Result is slow machine, applications not working
  etc..
• Recommend SpyBot
• Install

Spybot

• After Install
• Check for updates
• Right click and download all
• Immunise (check and immunise again)
• Run Initial scan (see later)
• Deal with Issues
• If original XP the Tea Timer agent can be loaded

Drivers

• Some machines require drivers for graphic cards,
  sound cards and mother boards to get 100
• Do you have original CDs
• Download from Net and save!
• Device Manager ? against items

Maintenance

• Weekly
• Update Virus definitions internet ore manual
• Update Spybot Definitions
• Run Spybot scan and remove Spyware
• Delete Internet Cache IE and Firefox
• Monthly
• Update Virus definitions internet ore manual
• Run Virus scan
• Update Spybot Definitions
• Run Spybot scan and remove Spyware
• Check if Defrag required
• Check Temp and delete files
