What is Sorting?

• This is basically when the data in a spreadsheet
  is put into a particular order. For example
  sorting the heights of things so that the tallest
  are shown first and the smallest are shown last.

Getting started

• To start off with you will need to open up
  Microsoft Excel, this can be done by
  double-clicking on the icon or from the menu in
  the bottom-left-hand corner.

You should now see this screen. If not, click on
File then New then select Blank Document

Entering Data

• Now its time to enter some data so that we can
  begin to sort it. In this case I have created
  some random ID Numbers, Product name, Quantity
  and amount sold.

Sorting

• Now that you have input the data, it is time to
  start sorting! In this example we are going to
  sort the Product names into alphabetical order.
• Firstly, click on Data on the toolbar.
• You will now be presented with a selection to
  choose from.
• Dont get worried, all you
• have to do is select Sort
• (As shown)

Next

• At this point you will be shown this screen
• Click on the arrow in the first
• Box and you will be presented
• With a list. Choose Product
• Name and make sure that
• Ascending is selected.
• Now click OK.

Finally!!

• Now the data should be arranged so that the
  Product Names are in alphabetical order.
• You can also sort other
• Things as well.
