African-Americans living in the post-Civil War
South. What were black codes and Jim Crow
Laws?
- Black Codes prevented blacks from voting,
serving on juries, holding certain jobs,
moving/traveling freely, gathering in groups,
etc. - Jim Crow Laws officially segregated schools,
restaurants, hotels, etc.
