• An experienced hacker creates a scanning tool
  that they send across the internet and then lots
  less experienced hackers run the tool to
  infiltrate into vulnerable systems. (2002)
• Once they get into the vulnerable systems, they
  could also gain access to systems in relation to
  the initial infiltrated systems and the web
  increases in size.(2002)
• It seemingly is a never ending process that
  hatches on to the vulnerable, unprotected
  computers.
• A spectrum of malicious actors can and do
  conduct attacks against our critical information
  infrastructures. Of primary concern is the threat
  of organized cyber attacks capable of causing
  debilitating disruption to our Nation's critical
  infrastructures, economy, or national

Who is Vulnerable?

• Most college students and teenagers download
  songs. Unfortunately, the trend for uploading
  users text, photos and videos has created more
  opportunity for hackers, who can hide viruses or
  malicious software in seemingly innocent files.

• Hackers are gaining access to areas of high
  population. This, in turn, lets them gain more
  information.
• Some reasons why most are vulnerable is because
  of the most basic problems with poorly
  implemented applications and badly patched
