Theoretical Apparatus Design

Problems Experienced (by Others)
  • A lot of noise was due to pulse amplifier
  • Axial resolution is limited by the temporal width
of microwave pulse and temporal width of the
    impulse response of UHF Transducer
  • Later resolution at the plane is limited by the
focal diameter of the ultrasonic transducer
  • Resolution deterioration due to transducer
diameter (being large), can be reduced at expense
    of SNR.
  • Difficulty in having high penetration (more than
4 cm) due to poor radio frequency penetration
    values.

7
Conclusion
  • Equipment seems expensive but better instruments
    will give better resolution.
  • What gain values are needed?
  • What resolution are we after?
