2What is Light?
Light is made up of mass less bundles of
concentrated electromagnetic energy with is
called a Photon.
Light is dual in nature. It is part particle, and
part wave
3Speed of Light
Light is insanely fast. In the beginning many
wondered whether light traveled instantaneously
or with a finite speed.
We now know that light travels a 300,000,000
kilometers per second.
How far light travels in a year is called a light
year

4Electromagnetic Waves
Light is energy that is created by vibrating
electric charges in atoms. The wave that is
created is part magnetic and part electric hence
the name. Electromagnetic wave. These waves have
a range which is called an electromagnetic
spectrum.
5Transparent Materials
Transparent material allow light to pass through
in a straight line. Glass is a material that is
transparent to any visible light. But it is not
transparent to any higher frequency lights such a
ultra violent light. It cause the atoms to the
glass to vibrate so much that the atoms collide
and lose energy through heat and the wave is not
transferred through.

Ultraviolet
6Opaque Materials Shadows
Opaque materials are materials that absorb light,
and allow no light to pass through them.
Rays are thins beams of light, beams of light are
usually made up of many rays. A shadow is formed
when rays of light are blocked.
Shadows can be classified as Umbra, or total
shadow, or as a Penumbra or partial shadow.
7POLARIZATION
Polarization is where a light wave only travels
horizontally, or vertically and not both because
they are filtered to prevent one type of motion.
