TODAY Winning the Inner War on Terror 2
Corinthians 51-10
3Can we face death with peace and assurance?
42 Corinthians 51-10
- 1For we know that if our earthly house, this
tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God,
a house not made with hands, eternal in the
heavens. 2For in this we groan, earnestly
desiring to be clothed with our habitation which
is from heaven, 3if indeed, having been clothed,
we shall not be found naked. 4For we who are in
this tent groan, being burdened, not because we
want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that
mortality may be swallowed up by life.
52 Corinthians 51-10, cont.
- 5Now He who has prepared us for this very thing
is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a
guarantee. - 6So we are always confident, knowing that while
we are at home in the body we are absent from the
Lord. 7For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8We
are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be
absent from the body and to be present with the
Lord.
62 Corinthians 51-10, cont.
- 9Therefore we make it our aim, whether present
or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10For we
must all appear before the judgment seat of
Christ, that each one may receive the things done
in the body, according to what he has done,
whether good or bad.
7- How Paul overcame the inner war on terror
8- The frailty of the body
- The faithfulness of God
- The fruitfulness of life
9We can look beyond the grave with courage.
10- 1. What is the difference in the eternal house
in the heavens (vs. 1) and the everlasting
habitations in Luke 169 (cf. John 142)? - 2. In what sense do Christians currently groan
(vss. 2, 4 cf. Romans 822, 23)? Why do we
groan? - 3. What did Paul mean when he said that our
heavenly house is not made with hands(cf. Mark
1458 Hebrews 911)? - 4. What did Paul mean when he said, We shall not
be found naked (vs.3)?
11- 5. Is it accurate to say that the Christians
body will be replaced at the resurrection, or
will it be changed? What is the difference? - 6. How might the earnest of the Spirit enhance
a Christians faith in the first century? - 7. Did Paul have a death wish?
- 8. In what sense do we walk by faith, not by
sight (vs. 7)? - 9. Why is it so important to please the Lord in
every way?
12- 10. Is there a relationship between our
resurrection house (vss. 1, 4) and the
judgment? - 11. Why is there so much emphasis in Scripture on
the judgment (Matthew 1015 1236 1241, 42
Luke 1014 Acts 1731 Romans 1410 Hebrews
927)? - 12. How does 2 Corinthians 51-10 give
encouragement to the downtrodden and those who
are tempted to quit?
13Write an aged soldier in the faith. Thank that
person for his or her godly example during
adversity.
