• Two different drafts have been submitted
  recently

• Drafts address how to carry LI/LO within the
  Radius protocol
• These two drafts have a different focus and
  motivation.
• Some raised problems are described subsequently.

Conflicting requirements

• Taxation might require that the home network
  knows the users location for the purpose of
  billing.
• User might not want the distribution its location
  information
• from the visited network to the home network
• from the home network to other entities

• The home network might be trusted for some
  purposes but not for everything.
• Hard problem Visited network interacts with end
  host to make sure that distribution of the
  location information is authorized

• Draft merging needs to address three issues

• Encoding of Location Object

• Non-XML based
• Privacy/Security Aspects
• Need to be addressed in sufficient detail
• Scenarios need to be respected
• Splitting into two phases
• One draft addresses immediately relevant problems
• Additional draft covers more advanced issues
