• Parachuting organisations set the standard and
  give the lead on AAD issues.

Saves in 2004 by AAD

• Minimum 39, but this is now difficult to monitor
  as cutters can be replaced in the field.
• There have been 540 reported AAD saves in the
  nine years from 1996 to 2004 inclusive.
• AADs should not be looked upon as a fail-safe
  substitute for less than excellent training. If
  an AAD saves a students life the first area for
  examination must be the quality of instruction
  given to that student.
