Location- around the North Pole, covers a fifth
of Earths surface, North Asia, Northern North
America (Canada)

Plants and Animals

• Some plants in the tundra are lichens, mosses,
  sedges, perennial forbs, dwarfed shrubs, cotton
  grass, and cushion plants
• Some mammals are arctic fox, caribou, musk ox
• Some bird are gyrfalcon, ruddy turnstone, and a
  snowy owl

Water and Soil

• Water there are dotted bogs and pond
• Soil is permafrost, permanent ice within a meter
  of the surface

• Average temperature on warmest month 50 degrees F
  
• Only about 55 days per year have a average
  temperature higher than 32 degrees F
• Average annual temperature 10 degrees F to 20
  degrees F
• Harsh winters, low average temperature, short
  summer season, very little precipitation
