Title: Three Perspectives

Three Perspectives

2
Concept
  • Utilize conventions of common movie genres to
create three different trailers for the same
movie. In essence, three different identities
    for the same film.
  • Each trailer will target a different demographic.
The official website uses HTTP referrers in
order to determine which demographic the viewer
is a part of and presents him/her with the
    appropriate trailer.
  • Though the actors expressions, actions, and basic
plot points will be constant, cinematography,
editing, and sound techniques will be used to
shape each trailer to its respective genre.

3
Project Plan
  • We will create three different advertising
websites, each containing a link to the main
site. Depending on which site the user is
referred from, the main site displays a trailer
based on the users projected demographic.

What Went Right
  • Despite pushing the shoot back a week and some
minor issues with props, the shoot went very
    well.
  • Each shooting day was well-organized, and
responsibility was distributed well between the
    two of us.
  • Plot and dialogue held up for our purposes.
  • Actors and crew were enthusiastic and helpful.
  • The party scene, which could have gone very
    poorly, worked out great.
  • Mother Nature was on our side.
  • Were (mostly) on schedule!

5
What Went Wrong
  • Had to push the shoot back a week.
  • Some props did not arrive on time.
  • Had to rearrange some shots on the fly.
  • Tylers wrist felt the pain of a thousand burning
    suns.
  • Lighting was not as elaborate as we would have
    liked.
  • For some reason, we thought filming a power
    outage was a good idea.

6
We should have
  • Ordered props earlier.
  • Had better communication with actors.
  • Gotten Tyler a wrist brace.
  • Gotten more lights/crew?
  • Planned for the power outage scenes more
    carefully.
  • These were pretty minor.

7
Current Status
  • On schedule to start post-production.
  • Plan to digitize/sync audio and possibly edit
    over spring break.
  • Picture lock by SQ Week 3.
  • SQ Week 3 6 Color grading and sound design.
  • SQ Week 7 9 Website creation.

8
Advice
  • Organize like crazy.
  • Try to be about a week ahead of schedule and
    leave some padding.
  • If you have to deal with third-parties, do it
    ASAP.
