Biological Function of LHP1

• LHP1 functions in both flowering time control and
  vernalisation
• Regulates meristem response to light signals
• Required for maintenance of epigenetic vernalised
  state.
• Represses transcription of numerous genes
  including-
• flowering-time genes
• flowering locus (FT)
• flowering locus C (FLC)
• organ identity genes
• LHP1 (Like Heterochromatin Protein) is the only
  homologue in the arabidopsis genome of
  Heterochromatin Protein (found in human yeast)
