2Weathering
Weathering is the process of rocks breaking down
into small pieces.
Wind, temperature, water, ice, and plants are the
agents of weathering.
In this picture the iron in the rock is rusting,
that is called chemical change.
In this picture is the plant prying the rock out
of its way, that is called physical change.
3Erosion
Erosion is the process of moving earth material.
Gravity, water, ice, and wind are the agents of
erosion.
In this picture the wind and water eroded the
rock.
In this picture the wind eroded the sandstone
into this shape.
4Deposition
Deposition is a process in which sediments are
laid down in layers.
Sedimentary rocks are formed of sediments that
have been deposited one layer at a time.
This is a delta made by a river, the brown stuff
is the sediments the river brought with it.
This is a beach, the sand is pulled by the waves.
