3Objectives
- As per Time and Cost Agreement , GMIS is
supposed - To provide support to states on going Vitamin A
supplementation - Programme With the aim to increase the coverage
from present 77 to more than 85 with special
focus to urban areas.. - GMIS Gujarat has also taken up
- Supervision and monitoring of adolescent girls
anemia control programme - Advocacy of breast feeding and complementary
feeding
4Recruitment of Staff
GMIS was supposed to recruit 4 District Extenders
to do work for 4 different regions Viz. Surat
Vadodara Gandhinagar
Rajkot In May 2006, GMIS recruited 3 District
Extenders and placed them at Surat, Vadodara and
Gandhinagar. One post of DE was kept vacant
because of non availability of candidate. Again
two persons were recruited in the month of Oct.
06 and placed as district extender and MED
consultant.

6Training for the District Extenders
- State Coordinator and the three District
Extenders were provided training for Vitamin A
Supplementation Programme at New Delhi and Mysore
respectively in the month of May 06. - Untrained District Extenders will be trained at
national level in the month of April 2007. - Locally training will be organized for the
untrained district extenders in the month of
Feb.2007 in the state.

Medical Officers of PHCs, CDPOs, CBHVs of all the
districts and MOs, Paramedical Supervisors

23IEC Activities
- The following IEC activities are to be carried
- out for the February 2007 Biannual Round
- House-to- house pamphlet distribution
- These pamphlets will be distributed in all the
Ahmedabad, - Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot Municipal Corporation
areas. - Total of about 350000 pamphlets are supplied to
all the 4 - Municipal Corporations.
242. Dos and Don'ts Pamphlets These pamphlets
will be distributed to all the frontline workers
of municipal corporations, towns, and rural

264. Miking Miking activity will be conducted in
the 51 poor performing PHCs, in selected 20
towns and in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and

Tuesdays during the Biannual round.
27- 5. Stickers for Rickshaws
- The stickers will contain the IEC message on
Vitamin A Supplementation programme which will be
pasted on - Rickshaw in Selected 20 towns, and in
Ahmedabad,Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot Municipal
Corporations
28- 6. Banners on Rickshaws
- Banners will be displayed on the Rickshaws along
with the Miking round. -

- One Inauguration Function in each 4 Municipal
Corporation and at District Head Quarters will be
organized. -

Vitamin A Supplementation Programme on all the
health institutions in the Districts including
Corporations will be placed.
32- 10. Radio Jingle
- Radio Jingle with message of Vitamin A will be
broadcasted over all the All India Radio Stations
of Gujarat for the entire biannual round. -

33- 11. Rath

- Rath with exhibition of Vitamin A will visit all
the 25 districts and all the Municipal
Corporations areas. Total of 6 Raths will be
moving in the entire Gujarat - State.
34- 12. Banner Roller Stand with SS Frame

- Banner Roller Stand with SS Frame with rolling
mechanism using electronic device will display
the message of Vitamin A in each RDD Zones.
3513. Folding Picture Hanger Folding Picture
hanger will be used for the exhibition and
demonstration proposes with the IEC messages on
Vitamin A .
36Supervision and Monitoring
Financial support for POL for the vehicle on
every Wednesday during Biannual Round will be
given to Regional Deputy Directors, Chief
District Health Officers, Reproductive Child
Health Officers and District Public Health Nurses
of all the Districts in the Gujarat State, to
Supervise and Monitor the Vitamin A
Supplementation Programme
37Mobility Support to Difficult to reach Areas
Financial support to hire the vehicle on every
Wednesday during Biannual Round will be given to
increase the coverage percentage in poor
performing 51 PHCs from 35 Talukas of 14
districts.
