Who is a Good Reader?

  after reading. Being aware of HOW to gain
  information is just as important as the material
  that is actually gained.
• Remember---being a good reader involves thinking
  about how as well as what you read.

  consider the authors perspective/position and
  your own experiences and views to formulate a
  response

• You can use QAR when you need to answer questions
  or create questions.

  during social studies, science, math, english, or
  on tests.
• You can use QAR to help you understand and talk

Class?
Phase 1

• Teacher will guide student to answer QAR type 1
  2 questions using a reading.
• Continue practice on own by reading an article
  and answering 4 QAR questions.
• Share your answers with students with same
  article.
• Report to original group and share answers and
  get answers from others articles. Record these
  answers in notes packet.

How will we practice and embed QAR in Biology
Class?
Phase 3

• Select a current event relevant to the unit of
  study.
• Read the current event article.
• Create 4 questions based on QAR model.
• Provide answers to your 4 questions.
• Submit a copy of your article, 4 questions and
  their answers (not written with them)
• Read another students article, answer the
  question provided and evaluate the questions
  using a rubric.
