Optical Inspection Machine Family
The basic technology, developed by ASBA
AUTOMATION, consists of a modular software
system, as well as several hardware devices, like
CCD cameras, vision computer or optical units.
Linear Inspection Machine LIVI 01 The Linear
Inspection Machine is mainly designed for a
middle quality demand, but useable for a
requested high throughput up to 10 pices per
second.
Rotary Inspection Machine ROVI 01 The Rotary
Inspection Machine builds up around a rotary
table, that is designed for the highest quality
requirements. Upon request, it is possible to
deform the sealing during the inspection process.
In such cases, invisible splits are detected.

Linear Inspection Machine LIVI
Several cameras can be placed for surface
inspection and / or geometric measurement.
Conveyor belt serves as transportation unit. The
sealings are inspected during transportation on
the conveyor belt.
Feeding system, consisting of bulk and
bowlfeeder are specially designed for type of
application
After inspection, the machine will sort out the
sealings in several boxes, for good, defective,
or parts to be reworked.
Basic machine frame including power supply,
pneumatic components, and computer network system.

The Linear Inspection Machines modular concept
Basic unit contains Basic frame, feeding unit,
control unit and sorting system. Including one
measuring camera
Geometry control OD and ID measurement,
thickness, cross section or any geometric items /
diameter
additional checking of non fill areas or broken
parts with the surface inspection camera. Only
one side visible.
Construction stage 1 contains Basic unit,
including one more surface control camera, for a
general surface check from the top side.
Construction stage 2 contains Basic unit and
construction stage 1, including a second surface
camera and a turn over station. The construction
stage 2 allowes the full surface and geometrical
inspection.

Rotary Inspection Machine ROVI
Several cameras for surface and/or geometrical
inspection
Feeding System adaptable according to application
requirements
The rotary table top plate contains 16 modular
devices (called carrier pallet)These pallets
are exchangeable upon application demand. In
each one of the carrier pallets the individual
seals can be deformed and/or rotated below the
camera during the inspection process.

The Rotary Inspection Machines modularconcept
The modular pallet design of the parts nesting
station allows optimal flexability in handling a
wide variety regarding size and shape of the
seals to be inspected. Up to 9 automated cameras
can be installed in the machine to guarantee a
100 surface inspectionl around the
part. Exchangeable feeding attachments make the
rotary system to a flexible and universal
inspection machine for highest demands.

Standard Vision SoftwareMain Menu
After switching on the machine, the main menu
appears on the screen. Using the buttons on the
top side of the screen the operator can open
several sub menus.
The operator has to choose the right
identification code Nr. of the parts to be
inspected. The computer will then load
the right set-up data, and the cameras will
automatically move to the right postion, ready
for inspection.
This window shows the cameras on duty.
This area indicates the present volume of the
inspected parts, defining the good, the defective
and parts to be reworked.
This screen shows the present vision control
activities at work, using a graphically animated
picture.
This key starts the inspection cycle.

The vision software contains a library of
software moduls for surface inspection and
geometric measurment. A complete control program
can be assembled with a useful program called
program tree. It is
possible to design a program tree for every
camera, every part set up, and every control
demand.

The sub menu Vision set-up allowes the operator
to readjust the present vision set up, like the
general sensitivity, the camera value and
position, as well as several useful and necessary
vision parameters.

Standard Vision SoftwareScreen Editor and
Program Tree
The sub menu screen editorserves mainly for the
design of the program tree. For each camera, and
for each part, the operator can determine the
necessary kind of evaluation . The sub menu
screen editor supports the operator with useful
test and edit functions.

choose several necessary program modules to
assemble modul by modul to a complete vision
program.
If the operator works on the program tree, or
edits some parameter, he always can see the
results and how the vision program works.

Standard Vision SoftwareExpert System
The expert system allowes the operator to train
and determine several kind of defects, and the
size limits of a possible defect. When the
operator moves the cursor to the defect area, an
expert window will open. The expert window helps
the operator to determine the limits of a defect
in size, but also to train the expert system
about the pattern of defects that may occur.
If the cursor is moved inside the defect area, a
red expert system frame will appear.
The expert system is able to learn several
different patterns.
The operator only needs to click on the no
defect or defect button to indicate his
decision to the expert system.

Sofware Modul
In the screen edit sub menu exist several
measurement modules to check the OI/ID
dimensions, the cross sections, or any distance
from one point to another point. These modules
are also a part of the program tree.
For every geometric modul an edit window
appears. In this window the operator determines
the measurment values and their
tolerances. He can even determine by a
slider, where the measured value will appear on
the screen.

Standard Vision SoftwareStatistics Module
The standart software version includes a
powerfull sub menu for statistical analysies of a
production batch. The statistics can count the
different kind of defects, as well as the
inspected batch volume. Good and defective parts
are listed seperately. The operator can
predetermine the number of parts to be inspected
before stopping the machine.

Standard Vision SoftwareData Set-Up for a new
part
It is possible to create a new data set up for a
new part at any time. However it is not always
necessary to reenter all parametesr again
seperately.The operator can in most cases, simply
copy a similar parts data set, and add the
divergent parameters to it.

Standard Vision SoftwareAutomatic adjustment of
the camera position
For high flexability and quick machine
readjustment in case of product changeover, the
camera positions are memorized in the data set
for every type part. A special sub menu allowes a
movement of the camera to a new position by the
slider on the screen.

This position will be memorized under the
due part/ job number.Whenever a data set for a
part already inspected before is called up, the
cameras will automatically move into the position
once established. Every camera is individually
positioned to correct focus by its own stepper
motor.
