Research paper Example
  • Example of well structured paragraph (from paper)
    -1.6.3 Organizational and process impactIT
Value Management uses new insights to improve the
processes.  (Great, I know exactly what this
paragraph is supposed to be about.)
  • Example, example, example in clean, direct
    sentences.
  • IT professionals can focus on their original
mission of finding better ways to further
business through use of technology.  (Great
again, summarizes and draws conclusion in last

    Bill Gates CEO of Microsoft?

  • IT Use Assessment critical to course content.
  • Work on financial section early. Get help if
skills not covered in your group.
  • Financials evaluated relative to industry
    performance.
  • Financial numbers belong in tables/graphs.
  • Top industry performance indicates IT use is a
    strength (S).
  • Poor performance indicates IT use may be a
    weakness (W).

16
Research paper Industry Analysis
  • General to Industry, not specific to company!
  • Some companies drive industry (Wal-Mart,
Microsoft). Industry discussion will have to
    include these companies.
  • Competitors focus only on top (perhaps 3-5)
    competitors in industry.

17
Research paper SWOT Analysis
  • Will study this tool throughout course.
  • (S) strength, (W) weakness, derived from
    company analysis.
  • (O) opportunity, (T) threat, derived from

  • If S aligns with O, take advantage.
  • Use S to nullify T.
  • Shore up W to protect against T.
