5What is Joyfest? Joy fest is a cultural event
which will be held in 300 colleges across India.
But it is a festival with a difference. At this
festival the college will invite a local NGO eg
an orphanage, blind school, old people's home as
guests of honor. What's more, college students
and members of the NGO will jointly perform on
stage in diff events.
6The objective is to a) Sensitise the youth to
the issues facing the underprivileged. b) To
connect with them at a human level and realize
these are People Like Us c) Also, opportunity to
the underprivileged to interact with privileged
class and feel one. A break from their
existence/life in their own surroundings. Events
include Fashion Show, Dance, KBC style quiz,
Antakshari, Rangoli, Mimicry, Street Play and
Dumb Charades
7 The Joy of Giving Week (JOGW), is a
national campaign spanning all sections of
society, to be held from Sept 27 to Oct 3, 2009.
Joyfest is a part of the JOGW. The objective of
the Week is to engage nearly 2 crore Indians in
different "acts of giving"- money, time,
resources and skills. Joy of Giving Week is an
initiative of GiveIndia, an NGO working to
promote the culture of giving since 1999.
GiveIndia has initiated activities like the
Mumbai and Delhi marathons. Runs the largest
Payroll Giving program in the country, across 40
companies. Has currently channeled Rs. 27cr p.a.
to over 200 credible NGOs all over India.

Stanford Design School, IDEO putting together a
programme for school children in 1000 schools
and 100 NGOs all over India Goonj will run the
largest ever in kind donation campaign in 20
cities, raising at least 1 million pieces of
clothing Apollo Hospitals will sponsor a
national organ donation campaign A Battle of
the Buffets event in Chennai Different
segments Joy of Giving Week will cover Schools,
Housing societies Hotels Restaurants Corporate
s football, CEO ramp walk, Joy Box
9Celebrities supporting Joy of Giving Week
Sachin Tendulkar has agreed to be a brand
ambassador for the event A. R. Rehman will
compose the Weeks Anthem, Mani Rathnam will
make a film for Joy of Giving week Farah Khan
is rallying support of Bollywood for a Chai 4
Charity event in Mumbai.
Nandita Das, Imtiaz Ali and Ayesh Takia are other
celebrities closely associated with
JOGW.
10The Media Blitz
Colleges will be invited to register on the
Joyfest site www.joyfest.in Starting July 15,
2009. This will be through a concerted
campaigna) In youth media MTV, JAM. b) Social
media - orkut, Facebook c) Direct contact
campaign through JAM database of colleges and
festival organizers d) Radio spots across
popular radio channels. e) News Television.
Registration will begin July 15th and close
on August 31st , 2009
11How will Joyfest work? JAM magazine, India's
largest youth magazine is the event partner of
Joyfest.The JAM network in colleges across
India will be leveraged. Colleges will register
for Joyfest through a specially designed
website. This website will take the organizers
through the process step by step.

- How will www.joyfest.in work?
- Joyfest.in is a Web 2.0 site. It will enable
- Organizer to register and invite his or her
friends and classmates to join a
group. - b) Upload blogs, photos and videos of practice
sessions - c) Submit a weekly progress report to the Joyfest
co-ordinators _at_ JAM - d) Ask for assistance in any matter related to
Joyfest
13How will the cultural program work? Joyfest.in
will provide a menu of 8 events from which a
college must choose a minimum of 4 events. Events
include Fashion Show, Dance, KBC style quiz,
Antakshari, Rangoli, Mimicry, Street Play and
Dumb Charades. The college students and NGO
members will practice together for events for at
least one month prior to the event The entire
college will be invited as audience for the final
performance.
14- Some mandatory requirements
- Organizers will submit a letter granting
permission from the Principal College - will provide use of their auditorium for
the event - b) They will identify an NGO of their choice to
partner with. Alternately Give India will assist
in locating the same. - c) Joyfest co-ordinators will track the progress
of the event - on a weekly basis via phone and online.
- In 6 major cities, the city co-ordinator will
personally visit - the practice sessions every 2 weeks
15How will Joyfest go to cities
- RECRUITMENT OF NODAL AGENCIES
- NGO/ Rotract with youth volunteers as partners in
all other cities, - NGOs are the best brand ambassadors. Tap the
power of volunteering.
CITIES Coimbatore, Gauhati, Jabalpur,
Jalandhar, Surat, Ahmedabad. Delhi, Ludhiana,
Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune Thane, Banglore,Chennai,
Cochin, Chandigadh, Simla, Kanpur,Hyderabad.
THE LAUNCH STRATEGY IS Create pages for
important Colleges on JOYFEST.in In 45 colleges
across the country. July 15 onwards. Send
detailing documents to Directors, Principals of
400 colleges, Universities. Out of which 300 will
register on JOYFEST.in. This process will be over
by Aug 15, 2009.

- ENROLL SUPPORT OF
- Enroll support of local Authority, Government.
- Local Celebrities, editor of newspapers, to
endorse Joyfest in the city. - Principals of important colleges.
- Interviews in the media by brands spokespersons
mentioned earlier,.as well as Rashmi Bansal,
Venkat director GiveIndia - One Inter college Fashion Show, at Mumbai with
celebrity Models participation, Ticket Sales will
all go to charity.

- College page login/password upon institutions
acceptance of participation on our letter copy. - Our volunteer groups will administer the process.

done. Visit to get a report on the progress, what
they are doing. - Ensure they have organized the students and
staff, fulfilled the requirements from their
side. - Monitor activity

19Incentives In select colleges, actors and
celebrities will make an appearance A trophy
will be awarded to the top 5 colleges with
maximum participation. Prizes will be awarded
to the top 10 performances based on votes from
the viewers online. (each college will put up a
video of its event) All organizers and
participants will receive certificates from
Joy of Giving Week
