Exploration 2
  • Title - Lyrically ChallengedObjectives
  • This exercise will encourage you to engage with
the process of understanding letterforms and to
explore the potential of texture within graphic
work. In addition it will encourage you to draw
    subtle relationships between meaning and
    aesthetic.
  • Instruction
  • Choose a line from a song and recreate the line
using text made using a set of real objects. Take
a photograph of your construction and crop where
    necessary.
  • Tips
  • 1. Consider assembly of letter forms from smaller
    identical components or manipulate malleable
material.2. Consider all elements of the
photograph the choice of background behind the
    words, punctuation, lighting, overall colour,
balance of textures and legibility levels.3.
Consider the overall harmony of letter shapes,
accuracy of positioning and the scale of type in
relation to the overall size of the image.
  • 4. Reflect on the meaning of the lyrics and
choose materials which are appropriate but avoid
being too literal or formulaic. Can you surprise
    us?
