Stipends

• Current stipends 1519 after taxes
• Competitive with other top universities
• Lower than some (Cornell gt 2000 / mo)
• Low-end multi-bedroom apartments 700/mo/bedroom
  (CalRentals)
• Not to mention
• Utilities, Parking, Public Transit, etc.
• Stipend Increase Not Feasible?
• What about subsidies e.g. parking, DSL, etc?

Research Awareness

• Students not aware of what other students are
  doing!
• Students want to show off their research!
• Semi-Regular Forum Needed
• ILP? Seminar-class?
• New Student Orientation

First Year Resources

• 464 Lab in Disrepair
• Many machines down persistently
• Laptops Great, But Inconvenient for Full-Time
  Work
• Keyboards, Monitors would help
• Computing Infrastructure / Support Staff
• NFS Down Frequently
• Disk Quotas Low
