3Lessons from HPWREN
- Interdisciplinary projects are extremely
beneficial - Need cross-disciplinary understanding to make
progress - Measurement analysis to assess and adapt system
- Bandwidth constraints
- Prioritization - QOS
- Testbed for operational and prototype sensor
networks - Use existing wireless and networking technologies
whenever possible - Wide range of climate and environment
- Innovate and develop sensor connectivity and
processing - Variety of testbeds needed for next generation
wireless - and networking

5ROADNet Development
- The Problem
- Integrated real-time management of large,
distributed, heterogeneous data streams from
sensor networks - e.g.
- integration handling of heterogeneous data from
multiple (signal) domains, interfacing with
sensors and data loggers to acquire streams - real-time processing monitor streams of data,
detect events, trigger computations and other
actions - distribution federate multi-domain sensor and
embedded system networks for transparent access - persistent large-scale archival and querying of
consolidated data packets
