dispositions) required to participate in 21st
century democracy are more complex than those
needed in generations of the past. Todays
citizens need new skills (e.g., media literacy,
global awareness, etc.) that go beyond
traditional civics content. As a result, new,
innovative teaching strategies are needed in
order to reach these higher outcomes among
students.
