• Code for physical traits, instinctive behaviors,

• Genes are contained in chromosomes
• Get one chromosome from each parent
• Male- x and y
• Female- x and x

• How base pairs (Guanine,Adenine,Cytosine,
  Thymine) are put together determines how proteins
  are made
• This code is what give organisms specific traits

Phenotype

• Phenotype- outward or physical trait of an
  organism
• Hair color, fur color,ear size, number of teeth,
  number of antlers..all phenotypes

Genotype

• Genotype- The genetic code for physical,
  inheritable trait
• Carried by all living things
• Each trait has its own specific code

Genotype,Allele

• Specific combinations and locations on chromosome
  code for traits
• Allele- distinct form of a gene that codes for a
  certain trait
• One from each parent.some dominant, some recessive

• Alleles can be dominant or recessive
• Dominant- trait is expressed when one allele is
  present
• Recessive- trait is expressed when pair of
  alleles
